This is a two day course in Power Boating which has now become the "Best Practice" driving standard amongst those who drive and Skipper Power Boats Professionally.

Those who Pass the test at the end of the course are awarded a Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate.

This is recognised as the standard required by both the I.S.A., Dept of Marine and many Government Agencies, in order to safely coxswain or skipper a Power Boat.The National Powerboat Certificate is also recognised as proof of competency when applying for an International Certificate of Competency (Motor). Pre entry requirement to this course is an Introduction to Powerboating Certificate (Level 1) or equivalent pre-course driving experience.

The course is aimed at total beginners or those who already have some Power Boating experience. On this course, you and two other students will join your instructor for twelve hours of Power Boat instruction spread over two full days. Subjects include:

  • How to launch and recover your boat
  • Preparing your Power Boat and Safety Checks
  • How to pick up and secure to a mooring buoy
  • Leaving and coming alongside a marina or harbour
  • Towing, rescue and emergency drills
  • High speed manoevering
  • Anchoring
  • Engines and drive systems
  • Coastal theory, basic navigation and pilotage
  • Rescue of disabled craft
  • Man overboard drills
  • Advanced high and low speed techniques
 
At the end of the two days of instruction, students who pass the test are awarded their I.S.A. Level 2 National Powerboat Certificate. They are now qualified Power Boaters.

All National Powerboat Certificate Courses now include a Coastal Endorsement.
