Typical clients are those who might be thinking of taking
up Power Boating or buying a Power Boat. It is also suitable
for corporate groups who want a high value fun day out with
a qualification at the end of it ! The Introduction to Powerboating Certificate is also the first stage towards gaining your National Powerboat Certificate.

On this course, you and two other students will join an
expert Powerboat Instructor from 10 am to 5 pm for a full
six hours of exciting wind in the hair Power Boat instruction
on beautiful Lough Ree. These courses are run each day Monday
to Friday all year around. Weekend courses are available
by special arrangement. For every six students, the sixth
goes free !!!
After an introduction and safety brief over a cup of coffee
the course commences with: |
- How to launch and recover your boat
- Preparing your Power Boat and Safety Checks
- Following a cup of coffee and a final brief, we start on basic
Power Boat handling where the students themselves begin to drive
around Lough Ree under the expert eyes of our friendly highly
trained Powerboat Instructors.
After lunch it's back on to the lake for more driving
practice. You will be taught:
- Close Quarter Handling - Leaving and coming alongside in a
marina or harbour
- Towing, rescue and emergency drills
- High speed driving techniques

At the end of the day, all students are presented with their
Irish Sailing Association Introduction to Powerboating Certificate over a celebratory few jars in the award winning
Hodson Bay Hotel - on the School of course!. Where would
you get it? Food , drink and an action packed day out from
work and all for just €200 per person.
