| Hodson Bay Watersports - Important Notice |
15 August 2008 |
Hodson Bay Watersports has been a registered business name of Lough Ree Powerboat School for over 5 years. Hodson Bay Watersports has also been registered by Lough Ree Powerboat School as a Trademark with the Irish Patents Office. It has been brought to our attention that the Roscommon Co. Co owned Aquatic centre has been passing itself off in recent weeks as Hodson Bay Watersports in its signage, press releases and advertising. We wish to make it very clear that we are in no way currently associated with Roscommon Co. Co. owned Aquatic Centre or with it's present operator. We have made a formal complaint to the Manager of Roscommon Co. Co. on 21 July 08 and have requested that they cease and desist this unauthorised use of our business name Hodson Bay Watersports. To date we have had no response or action to address our complaint from Roscommon Co.Co. |

| Our Eco Policy at Hodson Bay Watersports and Club Powerboat.ie |
15 July 2008 |
Here in Hodson Bay Watersports and Club Powerboat.ie at Hodson Bay, Athlone, we are acutely aware of the beautiful environment we are privileged to enjoy and work in all year around. We are proud to say that we have probably done more at ground level to introduce safe and responsible boat driving practices than any other body on the Shannon.
Club Powerboat.ie actively promotes a "No Wake" Policy, thus ensuring the safety of other water users and the protection of Wild Life and Nesting Birds. The School is also actively involved in working with and supporting voluntary bodies such as the Swan Sanctuary.
We do not run and never will run high speed joy or thrill rides, banana
boats or any similar such products. Instead we are purely dedicated to
introducing as many people as possible to the delights of being able to
drive a boat safely and responsibly on our beautiful waterways.
Essentially , Hodson Bay Watersports's self defined policy which has also been adopted by bodies such as the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland is as follows:
Nothing that we do on the water or on shore should compromise:
Anyone else's enjoyment of the amenity whether they be on shore or on the water.
Any one else's Safety.
The Amenity itself.
The Waterways are there to be enjoyed by people of all interests, beliefs and backgrounds. They are not there for the enjoyment of one group only !
