| Here in Lough Ree Power Boat School we are acutely
aware of the beautiful environment we are privileged to enjoy
and work in all year around. We are proud to say that we have
probably done more at ground level to introduce responsible
boat driving practices than any other body on the Shannon.
The School actively promotes a "No Wake"
Policy, thus ensuring the safety of other water users and
the protection of Wild Life and Nesting Birds. The School
is also actively involved in working with and supporting voluntary
bodies such as the Swan Sanctuary.
The School has an engine replacement policy that
all outboard engines over 15 hp will be eco friendly low noise,
low emission 4 stroke motors.
We do not run and never will run high speed joy
or thrill rides, banana
boats or any similar such products. Instead we are purely
dedicated to
introducing as many people as possible to the delights of
being able to
drive a boat safely and responsibly on our beautiful waterways.
Essentially , Lough Ree Power Boat School's self
defined policy which has also been adopted by bodies such
as the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland is as follows:
- Anyone else's enjoyment of the amenity whether they be
on shore or on the water.
- Any one else's Safety.
- The Amenity itself.
The Waterways are there to be enjoyed by people
of all interests, beliefs and backgrounds. They are not there
for the enjoyment of one group only !
