These courses are run in May and September from our Coastal Operating Centres in Sligo, Malahide and Galway.

Candidates should be very experienced Power Boaters who already hold a Level 2 certificate with coastal endorsement,a Marine VHF cert, a current First Aid cert and a knowledge of navigation and pilotage to the standard of either Day Skipper (Shore based ) or an equivalent course such as Lough Ree Power Boat School's specially designed two day Coastal course.

The course normally runs from Friday evening until Sunday afternoon. Night work is an integral part of the course with a night driving exercise on the Saturday Night. Subjects covered on the intensive Advanced Power Boat course include:
  • Advanced high speed handling
  • High speed navigation and passage planning
  • Night driving and night navigation
  • GPS Navigation
  • Heavy weather handling
  • Advanced emergency drills and procedures
  • Meteorology
If your craft meets the I.S.A. requirements for Advanced Power Boat courses, you are welcome to use your own boat on the course. Contact us for details.
